If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you’re searching for a mattress that’s going to perform as well as you do during sex. Let’s face it, not all mattresses are up to par in this department. I’ve been on some pretty terrible mattresses that made “doing the deed” almost impossible and extremely uncomfortable.
If you’re mattress is putting a damper on your sex life, I’m going to help you pick one that meets all of the criteria there is that makes a bed better or worse for sex. This article isn’t going to exactly be talking about how well the bed does for sleeping, but it’s still important to weigh those options as well. Unless you have separate rooms where you sleep and where you have sex, you should definitely consider a mattress that performs well in both categories, that is unless sleep isn’t all that important to you.

What Makes A Mattress Great For Sex?
While you’re making love, you certainly don’t want to feel like you’re being squished into the bed or bouncing too much to the point of getting whiplash. Memory foam beds that are more firm offer better traction, which can lead to a quicker orgasm with minimal effort. Sometimes, you just want to get it done and over with, I understand that.
Unfortunately, mattresses that are too firm can eliminate bounce, making momentum and tempo something hard to achieve. It’s not a bad thing, unless that’s what your sex life is all about. Like I said earlier, the firmness will create better traction. The other great thing about memory foam mattresses and sex is that the noise is virtually eliminated, unless you have a squeaky or loose headboard.
If you’re looking for something that is going to be both comfortable to sleep on while allowing your to enjoy sex, I suggest a medium-firm mattress. It won’t give you a quicksand feel, making changing positions difficult, and it won’t be too firm to the point of being uncomfortable to sleep on. It will offer you both good spine support and sex.
Latex
No, I’m not talking about a costume here. If you’re all about the bounce and rhythm, latex is where it’s at. With these, you get the benefits of innerspring with the comfort and noise discretion of memory foam. Latex is also hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. This means that as you’re rolling around between the sheets, there’s less of a chance of you collecting germs and bacteria during your sessions.
Latex mattresses are also the most durable out of the categories thanks to their high densities. The higher the density, the more durable and long lasting the foams are going to be. Generally, you want a density of more than 1.8pcf. You can still find a mattress between 1.5-1.8pcf that will still remain durable, but not as well as the above 1.8pcf. You can have as much sex on these mattresses as you want and they won’t wear out as fast as other mattresses will.
Air Mattress
I have to throw this one in here because I know a lot of couples who still have an active sex life while out on a camping adventure or while they’re waiting for their new bed to arrive. Personally, I’m not a fan of sex on air mattresses. They’re noisy, bouncy, and they tend to lose air. Although, if you enjoy bounce and don’t care about noise, this would make a good bed specifically for sex while out camping.

No, it’s not a type of mattress, but it’s something that should be mentioned. We all know how messy sex can get sometimes between the sweat and other bodily fluids. There are a few options here for protecting your mattress from stains and moisture. First, a mattress protector will do the job wonderfully. These completely protect your bed against all kinds of liquids, stains, rips, and other mishaps. If you aren’t a fan of the protectors, look for a mattress that has a removable cover that can be washed. This will keep your bed fresh and clean for round two, three, or maybe four, depending on your level.

Which Is Best For Sex?
A new mattress may be just what you need for a great sex life. Toss out that old junky one that’s worn out and gross. In my honest opinion, and as somebody who takes sex very seriously, I would suggest the Brooklyn Bedding Mattress. I would go with this one because of the fact that the only complaint was that the medium felt too firm. The upside to this is that there are three firmness levels to choose from, so if the medium feels too firm, choose the plush. This bed also had better than average edge support, so edge of the bed sex may not be so farfetched.
