Let me tell you something. Sleeping on my stomach is one of the most comfortable positions I have ever slept in. For some reason, I just can’t seem to get comfortable any other way. Unfortunately, not all mattresses can accommodate this position. Some of them are way too soft and some are too firm. If you are like me and your anatomy just doesn’t allow you to lay on your chest without it being painful, you’ll need to find the best mattress for belly sleepers that is also comfortable on your chest. If you just need a good mattress for stomach sleeping in general, I got you covered for this as well.

A lot of people ask me why I sleep on my stomach. The answer is simple-it’s comfortable. It allows me to sprawl out in any way I could possibly think of and it seems to cool me down more than it would to sleep on my side or my back. Believe it or not, there are many advantages of sleeping on your belly, contrary to what some may think.
Do you or your partner snore? No problem. You can easily alleviate this issue by turning over onto your stomach to sleep. Snoring is a common problem among all ages and genders and affects 90 million American adults. It also affects 37 million people no a regular basis. Snoring can lead to irregular sleeping and frustration.
My husband is a snorer and I want nothing more than to slap him while he’s sleeping, but I don’t because I know he really can’t help it. When he’s on his stomach, I do notice that he doesn’t snore like he would on his back.
While you are snoozing, the muscles in your throat relax and your tongue falls backwards. Your throat then becomes narrow and floppy and then the walls of your throat vibrate. This vibration leads to the sound of snoring. The more narrow your airway is, the more prominent your snoring will be.
A normal aging process leads to the relaxing of the throat muscles, which we now know causes snoring. You could also have anatomical and functional abnormalities in the nose or throat that can cause this, which includes the following:
Once you or your partner roll over onto your backs, your tongue won’t be able to slide to the back of your throat, leading to less or no snoring at all.
Sleep apnea is a condition in which the airway collapses or becomes blocked while someone is sleeping. This can cause shallow breathing or pauses in breathing all together. This is a more common condition in those who are obese, but it can affect anyone, even small children who have enlarged tonsil tissue.
If you don’t take the proactive measures to treat your apnea, you are at risk for the following:
Sure, you could use mouthpieces, breathing devices, or have surgery, but they’re all pretty inconvenient. So, why not try the simple solution and sleep on your stomach?
Just as with snoring, sleeping on your stomach keeps your airway open rather than narrowed from sleeping on your back. When your airway is open, you’re less prone to snoring and sleep apnea. Since your airway is narrowed, causing the snoring, it can also cause sleep apnea. So, roll over onto your belly, open that airway, and hopefully your sleep apnea will diminish.
I’ve slept on a lot of mattresses, and only a few were comfortable enough for me to be able to sleep properly on my stomach. Some felt like slabs of stone and others felt like quicksand, none of which were supportive enough for my sleeping position. So, how does one go about finding the right mattress for stomach sleeping? Well, there are a few factors that should be considered.
While you’re sleeping, your spine should always be proper aligned to avoid back pain and other pain that may come with it. Your midsection carries a lot of pressure and weight throughout the day and when you sleep on your stomach, that pressure continues to build.
Memory foam mattress are known for being conforming and responsive to pressure. They tend to take shape to the natural curves in your body, allowing it to adjust to your spine and keep it aligned. These aren’t really ideal for stomach sleepers, but it’s suggested that you sleep with your face down so that your neck isn’t twisted as you sleep.
Innerspring mattresses are better suited for stomach sleepers since they offer a firm support. These contour to your body and have an appropriate firmness level for this position.
When it comes to the firmness of your mattress, something on a scale from 4-7 would be ideal for stomach sleeping. This would be a medium to slightly firm feel. These keep your back from arching which will reduce stiffness. If your mattress is too soft, your pelvis is going to sink, misaligning your spine and potentially causing lower back pain.
The DynastyMattress is ideal for those who are looking for a top quality medium-firm mattress with the right amount of contouring. Not only that, but it has cooling technology that helps you maintain a perfect sleeping temperature to reduce tossing and turning due to overheating. This particular mattress has 4” total of airflow foam support.
The 2.5” 4lb high density open cell memory foam gives you the comfort you need and deserve while sleeping on your stomach. If you end up in any other position, the mattress will still offer you great pressure relief and support. All of the foams that are inside of the DynastyMattress are CertiPUR-US Certified, making them safe to sleep on and safe to have in the home. It has also been tested for quality and contains no harmful chemicals.
One of the great things that I like about this mattress is that it’s very attractive looking. A lot of mattresses are just plain white or have no pizzaz to them. This one has brown suede corners, a fire barrier, and the cover is washable. That’s right! You can take the cover off whenever you want and toss it in the washing machine per manufacturer instructions. The best part-a free pillow with your purchase!

Although it has been recommended to not sleep on your stomach because it could cause pain, a good mattress can resolve that issue. The beds above are all fit for stomach sleepers, such as us. After carefully reviewing all of them and weighing the pros and cons, I do believe that the Brentwood Home Bamboo Gel 11” Mattress-Queen would be the best bed for sleeping on your stomach. In comparison to the other ones, this one has the best warranty, it offers the most features, and it seems like an all around good fit for sleeping on your stomach.
